ABOUT THE EBIES
The EBies concept has been bouncing around Urban Green Council for quite some time. Laurie Kerr from the Mayor's Office of Long-term Planning and Sustainability got us turned on years ago to the idea of celebrating the unheralded, which she saw as critical to scaling green building and promoting excellence across the industry.
Chris Garvin (Cook+Fox Architects) and John Rice (AKF) helped steer us towards existing buildings, recognizing the already-crowded market of awards for new buildings. But it took Fiona Cousins from Arup to breathe life into these loose ideas, coining the term "EBies," deciding we needed a performance-based award, and creating the categories.
Chris Anjesky from Urban Green Council brought the project public, including managing the EBie website design and formulating the process and rules.
STEERING COMMITTEE
The EBies Steering Committee helped us work through issues and test out initial ideas. And along the way, Russell Unger from Urban Green kept the idea of the EBies alive through the years of discussion and worked with Fiona and Chris on big-picture decisions.
